Pictionary: Boracay Blazing

Here's the last dump of selected pictures from my recent beach holiday.

This is pretty much what I did the entire time; laze around, get some Vitamin E and take pictures.

This is where we got "welcomed" upon arrival at the Kalibo airport. The flight got rerouted because of the bitchy weather in Caticlan.

Good thing the weather was perfect the following day.

Recharging. This is the life.

The fresh fruits at the breakast buffet are little, edible joys.

Gotta love the pool deck.

With Joenessa, my good friend who kept me company after her shift. She works at Asya.

Late dinner at Zuzuni.

This is the shirt that I got altered.

Pizza Aria

Another good friend, Yala, followed on the last day of my vacay.

Playing around at the courtyard which my room had direct access to.

These are the pants that I had converted into shorts.

Afternoon stroll somewhere along Station 3.

 Boracay's picture perfect sunset.

Cassandra, also a close friend who happened to be vacationing on the island, dropped by at the hotel

Dinner at Crystal Sand.

Check out my review at tripadvisor.com.
Wondering when I can come back.

P.S.
I planned on meeting up with my former yaya who was also there on vacation but she and her Spanish boyfriend left the day before I arrived. They had to cut their vacation short because she was rushed to the hospital. She's ok now though.

Afternoon With A Stylist

OH EM GEE you guys! This would have been the most boring afternoon. But thank gawd for the Internet I got saved!

Today I met up with Bang Pineda, designer/stylist to the stars. He takes care of the styling in ASAP along with another stylist (whose name I unfortunately forgot). He's also a consultant for Garage.

We met up at Powerplant where he was shopping for this Sunday's ASAP. We, well he actually, raided Zara, People R People, Topshop and Mango.

He asked me if I wanted to go with him to Megamall and I said yes. After getting drinks at Starbucks, off to Mega we went with his driver.

He pulled/bought some stuff at 5cm where the sales staff are very friendly. Then he went to QC (ABS I think) while I opted to stay in the mall.

Bang seems really nice. I could tell why all the sales reps were very chatty with him. He even thanked me through text for tagging along while he was doing his thing.

Now, the question is, ladies and gentlemen, who do I have to fondle around here for me to be the next Brad Goreski/Taylor Jacobson?

Martin

Say hello to Martin, a well travelled, 36 year-old Canadian guy that I met in Boracay. He was my constant sun bathing buddy during my beach holiday.

Martin likes masculine guys with dark hair and brown eyes. He prefers local boat men and manual laborers over pretty boys. Hahah...

He'll be in town (Manila) by tomorrow but I don't think we're meeting up since he'll be staying around Malate.

What a nice, talkative guy.

Burnt

I'm back in Manila and naturally a little depressed now that my beach holiday is over. But I really had a great time in Boracay. That place never fails me.

More pictures coming up.

Holiday

After 15 minutes of flight delay, getting rerouted to Kalibo, and 2 overpriced bottles of water, I'm finally here.

I'll hit the beach in a bit. I'm starved.

Random Rants (Sort of NSFW)

Shopping Alert!

Sizes are limited so run! Go! Fast!

If you're in Manila, you must have noticed the crazy sales going on all over the malls.

I dropped by Glorietta after work and hyperventilated at Zara. Savings be damned!

Ok, there were more items, like P895 P495 shirts and P2,300 P995 shorts, that I wanted to get but I had to hold back. Buying these cotton vests wasn't even in the plan. The huge discounts don't come around often though so go!

Springfield also offers good stuff on sale. I saw some nice things in Mega.

Alterations Update

Both Alter Station and Alter to Fit did pretty well with the stitching---straight and neat.

I already got the shirt that I had altered as well as the pants that I had made into shorts. It was a mad dash from Glorietta to Megamall earlier this evening. Thank God I made it on time.

The results are fine. The shirt/vest is still a little too big but it looks alright. I'll post the pictures once I wear them.

Eww

In other news, check out these toys my straight guy cousins were messing around with. It was like a dirty show and tell.

This thing has pearls in it!

WTF!?
Gawd.

Nanny Diary

During the same time I was in Megamall having my clothes altered, I got a missed call and later on a text message from an unrecognized number. It turns out it was my first ever yaya!

It's the first time I heard from her after about 13 years. She left when I was in 4th grade.

It's good to know she's doing very well. She has two kids now and a Spanish boyfriend---and she can speak his language.

Apparently, she's now based in Cebu. She's on a vacation with the boyfriend and visited my parents at home then got my and my sister's numbers from them.

She expressed how happy she was being able to see my folks again and thankful that she reconnected with us after all these years. It was really touching. I may get to see her soon.

Project Alteration

How much junk in your closet do you not wear for varied reasons? Well, in my case, about 20% of my clothes are gathering dust and are stinking of moth balls either because they don't fit well or are out of style, while some are kept for the revival of trends.

So I thought if these things are going to occupy precious space in my wardrobe, they better be worth it. It's something I've been thinking of doing for a long time now.

Unsure of how things are going to turn out, I started with two items.

First is a shirt given to me by a cousin. It's cute and I like the glittery, texturized print but it's just too big.

The second one is another gift sent by my brother. I like the denim and the wash but again, too big (the legs at least).

I went to Megamall yesterday and headed straight to Alter Station. It cost P110 to have the pants made into shorts while the shirt would have cost around P500 to be converted into a loose wifebeater or sando! And the latter will take a week to be done! Crazy. So I just had them work on the pants.

Luckily, I later chanced upon Alter to Fit at the top floor. They charged me P305 for the shirt and I can pick it up on Monday. Still pricey but I'm hoping it's worth it.

If the results are good, I'll work on other items. There's a lot more at home. It's a pretty good alternative to actual shopping. It evokes more creativity, very "green"---since it's a form of recycling, and costs less money.

Fool

Last week, I met someone who asked me intense questions such as "Are you happy?" and "Are you fulfilled?" That's the first time we met. Then he went on to refer to me as "Mr. Jolie" and told me he couldn't figure me out and showed efforts to do so. "Para kang Rubik's Cube," he said thru text.

This guy is younger than me which sucks. And he still studies, which makes it suck even more. He's very cute though. We're friends.

Now, if I can only, uhm, mystify The Chef that way and prompt him to be more consistent and persistent. But no. I fell for it again. It felt so damn good though (while it lasted). I enjoyed being with him. I even found an unusual liking towards cats because of his pet which he referred to once as "our baby!"

But where the fuck is he now? My friend said I should get used to it because succesful men are too busy and you're not usually the priority. Bullshit.

And yet another reason to get away.

Rant # 51398211079

I want need this:

I'm in desperate need of a vacation. SERIOUSLY. No, like, ugh, really seriously. I. Need. It. I do not even know where to begin, like, explaining how much I want to unwind, relax, and get away. Seriously. Like. Ugh.

Hot Tranny Mess

Check out my sister's Christmas gift for moi.

Fierce Style. Gay much?

Hahahah... I love it. I just finished it yesterday. And just like I expected, Iwas shitting, vomitting 'fierce' by the last page. It's no book club selection (hello!) but it's insightful and almost as entertaining as Christian Siriano on TV.

A New Dawn

Here's a couple of shots I took with my phone on the way home from The Chef's place this morning.

Manila is almost unrecognizable without the chaos of daily life.

There was still fog smog, but barely a soul in sight.

If today will set the trend for the rest of the 364 days ahead, this ought to be an interesting ride.

Here's to a hopeful, exciting, new year.
