Friday Fantastic

It's normal for me to walk so much during my free time looking around malls and picking up a thing or two. I normally don't mind hopping from point A in the North to somewhere in the South.

Yesterday was no difference. I walked so much I literally have blisters on my left foot right now.

Pre-haircut shot. The shirt is from Folded and Hung, the shorts are from Dockers, the shoes from Springfield and the bag is from Zara.

I have been whining about getting a haircut for weeks now. My usual stylist at Piandre was not around yet again yesterday (health issues I think) so I decided to go to Gateway and revisit Menage Salon.

Goodbye emo, helmet hair.

Hello shorter, sleeker do.

I'm pretty happy with my haircut. I'm done with the emo kid, helmet hair for now but it's good that the stylist didn't cut it too short. I'm planning to wear it slicked back with more shine just like in the pictures with the help of Bench Fix Agent Bond Styling Gum. But I can only do that on special days when I actually have time to pay attention to my hair before I walk out the door. Otherwise, it's the usual, matte, unkempt do for me.

After Gateway, I went to Glorietta, Landmark and Greenbelt to buy some things and grabbed a bite at Burger King. Gawd, I love Burger King.

My sister invited me to join her and her friends watch Twilight at Greenbelt last night but I can barely walk anymore so I decided to just go home and call it a night. That was around 9:30 PM.

While online at 1 am. my cousin, who lives in Mandaluyong, told me he and his girlfriend together with his sister will go to Makati to eat. Yeah, at 1 fucking AM. So I joined them because I was so friggin' hungry anyway. We went to Mang Inasal where we stuffed our faces with grilled chicken and rice laced with chicken fat. There goes that morning's gym time.

I went home around 3 am. That's my Friday. How was yours? Later.

Thought Vomit

For the lack of a better thing to do, I have resorted to drinking. Well, it's just one of the Vodka Cruisers lying in the fridge so I don't know if you can even call this drinking. And it's friggin' blue!

I don't really drink alone. I drink to celebrate and not to sulk and cultivate loneliness. But hey, it's the only interesting thing to do when you don't have plans for the night and nothing good is on TV and you're single, and you're broke with no one to talk to. LOSER. I know.

Anyway, I'm going home in less than a week and I hope this will lift my spirits up soon enough. My parents recently bought a new Christmas tree and although I doubt it's available in Iloilo, I couldn't help but wish they had gotten a black one, preferably the one I saw in Dimensione a few days ago. It must be the emo kid in me.

This is one of the times when I wonder what it's like to be an ultra perky and cheery person oozing with a sunshine-y personality. I have friends who are like that. Don't get me wrong. I'm a generally nice person but I'm usually bubbly only when I'm with my really good friends. The rest of the time, I'm normally quiet, serious and brooding even. I'd like to try to be more optimistic ans perky some time. Perhaps when my friend lends me her copy of The Secret?

P.S.
I really need a haircut. Cecille, the usual stylist at Piandre Ayala who cuts my hair has been unavailable lately so I have no idea what to do or where to go.

Tomorrow is another day. Bye for now.

:)

It's that time of the season again when my confidence is low, my self esteem plummets and I resort to heart-wrenching songs, sulking.

I feel like everyone else around me is moving forward and living their life positively while little ol' me is stuck in this rut feeling all alone and stagnant.

A friend from work is currently hooked on the widely popular book The Secret and it seems to be working to her favor. Good for her. Another very good friend just got a new job which she really loves while another one just got her very first boyfriend. All great and dandy. I, on the other hand, well, still bored, still uninspired.

I can certainly feel the spirit of the holidays but it somehow just makes me feel worse. I'm not taking it in a good way.

I'm looking forward to getting over this.

I want this outfit now!

This is pure perfection. The drop-crotch pants, the shirt, the glasses, the flip-flops, the watch. It's subtly well put together. It's effortlessly chic yet practical. Don't even get me started about the guy. That's a totally different story though.

It's perfect. Enough said.

Rihanna+Chris Brown Concert

It's my first time to go to a concert that massive (with a 70,000 audience according to Rihanna) so I don't really know what to say but Chris Brown is an absolute charmer and Rihanna is a sex kitten on fire.Chris Brown took the stage first with an electrifying set and after what seemed like years of leg aches and an awesome fireworks display, Rihanna followed opening her set with the intoxicating beats of 'Disturbia'. The chemistry between the two performers (and lovers?) was palpable when Chris Brown joined Rihanna in 'Umbrella' which concluded the show.

I'm not even going to attempt to further elaborate the entire experience as words are simply not enough. There's no doubt the event was a success.

Sleepless Generation

They say this is the Prozac generation. But when Prozac, Xanax and Valium are not within your reach, what do you resort to? Antihistamine of course!

My sister and I have been fans of Allerin for quite a while now but it hasn't been working very well for me lately. That's why I started taking Seroquel, a bipolar disorder drug given by Mr. MedRep months ago.
I've been keeping the drug untouched all this time until 2 weeks ago when I desperately needed some sleep. As told by Mr. MedRep, this shit is hardcore. So much so that he gave me only one tablet. I just break or slice a very tiny portion and down it with water then I'd be knocked out after a couple of minutes. It's really promising. It's perfect for long, undisrupted slumber (not for 20-minute power naps).

Seroquel is obviously not an over-the-counter medicine so taking it without any medication from a physician is definitely risky which is why I only take it once or twice a week when the Zs are too elusive.

Jeezus, what the hell happened to us that getting some sleep takes so much?

Anyway, click here for more information about Seroquel.

P.S.
As usual, I am merely sharing my experience in this post and there is no way that I am adveritising/recommending Seroquel, or any drug for that matter, to anyone. And remember, OD-ing and pulling a Heath Ledger is never cool.

What's Your Number?

My very good friend and I are chatting over YM right now and just moments ago she asked me this question out of nowhere:

"How many guys have you slept with?"

Bitch has been rubbing crotches with this guy who is a potential first boyfriend and who is bound to pop her cherry. Now, she's seeking sex advices from me.

Anyway, I didn't give an exact answer because honestly, I've stopped counting. Not that there's that many of them. I've slept with more than a dozen of them. There. That's the best answer I could come up with so go figure.

Random Rants

Free Time

Psyched would be the perfect word to describe me right now. My one-day leave from work got approved and it's absolutely fantastic. Seriously, that's like rain in the Sahara or a lunar eclipse.

The thing though is I don't know what to do with all that time in my hands. My cousin's birthday party on Saturday is not happening so I have no idea what I'll do. It certainly doesn't help that I'm broke because of the shopping I succumbed to. Oh well. Let's see. I might as well just enjoy this.

Woohoo!

Changes

I'm not really into politics but for some reason I care about the USA election. Congratulations Obama! I trust Momma Oprah's taste so I think America is in good hands. Seriously though, he has yet to prove himself but I think he won't disappoint. If only Filipino politicians would be at least... Oh I won't even go there.

Proposition 8 won?! Boo!

Philip, Aries or Veejay?

I can't wait for the finale of Project Runway Philippines! I saw the first half today and I must say all three collections seem very strong in different ways.

I think Aries is an amazing designer who delivers in terms of style level and construction. He has been very consistent all throughout the show. He tends to boast sometimes but we're looking for the Philippines' next top designer here, not a role model.

Veejay has been in the mainstream fashion industry for a while now and it shows. He may have had a couple of slip-ups in the show but he certainly knows what he's doing. I appreciate the fact that his designs are never overly done yet still chic and edgy.

Philip has a good attitude-- I just had to point that out. He knows what women want. His designs are always very feminine and the construction of his pieces are never compromised. What he lacks in versatility, he somehow makes up for in execution and design concept.

I love all three of them. Each designer is a strong contender, but I think Aries Lagat deserves the win.

We'll know very soon.

P.S.
Please DO NOT even give me a clue or hint whatsoever of who won if for some reason you already know the results. Ok? Thank you.

My Halloween Tricks and Treats

Five locations. One shopper. Too much goodies.
Today is Friday, pay day and shopping day. I scoured half of town for a major retail therapy. It's very interesting because I did the same thing at Rockwell last year. Since all my loved ones who have passed away are all buried in my hometown and camping with relatives at the cemetery is something I cannot enjoy here in Manila, I thought I'd go shop the Halloween away.
The Lacoste, Plains and Prints and Backstage items are not for myself but I sure did enjoy buying them. Besides, I'm very much contented with my Theodore's and Springfield steals.
On today's episode, our eternal lonesome loser goes to multiple consumerism hubs in Manila to fill the void of homesickness and solitaire. Below are a couple of things you can do should you wish to tread the same path---risk going bankrupt and donate all your money to Store Specialist Inc., etc... Ladies and gents, welcome to How to Spend Your Free Time Spending Your Meager Income!
With barely 5 hours of sleep, head to Makati Cinema Square to look for local indie films and Spanish movies. If you don't have luck finding Spanish movies, just get four Filipino indie titles.
Apres MCS, head to Glorietta to purchase 8 tickets for the Rihanna and Chris Brown concert. Get the bronze ones because you're too poor to get the expensivo tickets.
Go to Burger King and fill your aching stomach due to extreme hunger. Be patient because there's never a vacant table until a couple of minutes of holding your tray going back and forth.
Then proceed to Greenbelt to buy your father's Lacoste shirts. Go to Starbucks and waste all the precious albeit boring time you spend at the gym.
Get a cab and go to The Fort upon learning from Bryanboy and Chuvaness a couple of days ago that there's a major sale going on at Theodore's The Store.
Before going to the store du jour however, drop by Backstage first. Buy a gift for a friend and get your picture taken shamelessly by one of the sales representatives.
This my first time to go to Backstage and I definitely want to go back.

Before heading to Theodore's, wander and get distracted like you always do. Head to Springfield where you remember seeing cute red and yellow shoes!

These jeans are so tight they can pass off as leggings! My nuts were tortured.

Fume upon knowing that the same guy you saw shopping at Glorietta came there first and was clever enough to reserve the last remaining pair of the same size 42 shoes in red that you were planning to get. Request the lovely sales rep to call their other branches and check availability of the same kicks. Since there's one pair left at Robinson's Manila, have it held.

Finally, hit up Theodore's while ogling over the fantastic costumes of kids and adults alike as you work your way through the crowd.
You step into the store and you can't decide which direction you go first. Your heartbeat goes hysterical while checking out the amazing selection of S**** London shoes on sale.

The very accommodating sales rep with brown eyes points to a white True Love & False Idols shirt with a gold "THIS SHIT HERE SELLS ITSELF" (or something like that) print. You fall in love with it but later forget about it because it's stained, which is why they're cutting the price in half, and they don't have it in medium.

Gawd. Look at my skin!

You settle for another white TFL shirt but still continue to loiter. The sales rep suggested that you check out their Cheap Monday jeans selection. You try one on and bam! Perfect fit. You decide to get it. You're convinced Mr. Sales Rep is very good with his job, it also helps that he's quite cute.

Sold!

As you sign the guest book, you see Celine Lopez's name and number. You entertained the thought of getting her number just for shits and giggles.

Intoxicated with consumerism, you exit the store and find throngs of people, young, old, beautiful, hot, not, running laps around the block, some of whom in complete Halloween regalia.

I really should have brought the camera!

I would've considered joining this marathon(?)/race(?) had I known about it. I'd be Elvis.

What's up bitches?

Not giving up without a fight, you race to Robinson's Manila to pick up the apparently coveted red shoes in size 42. Three lbs of sweat later, they're yours at 30% off.

Just before going home, you drop by Plains and Prints and get leggings for your sister.

You go home with contentment, high with the wonders of shopping.

A big chunk of my salary went to:

  • Red canvas shoes from Springfield
  • Jeans from Cheap Monday (Theodore's)
  • White True Love & False Idols shirt (Theodore's)
  • DVDs from MCS
Theodore's even threw in a cute notepad!

Shop 'til you drop? I say shop 'til you lose a limb.
Today's outfit: Oversize shirt from Fossil (a hand-me-down), uber skinny jeans from an ukay-ukay store in Iloilo, shoes from People are People, vintage wayfarers, and wooden ring from Boracay.
Whew.
